Traslación 2021 Novena Mass Schedule, Theme, Catechism and Logo

Thousands of devotees participate every January 9 in the Traslación of the Black Nazarene, a procession to commemorate the solemn transfer of the image from Intramuros to Quiapo Church.

The word traslación is a Spanish term for translation meaning a process of moving something from one location to another or transfer. In Filipino/Tagalog, it means paglilipat.

However, for the upcoming January 9, 2021 procession, it was cancelled to ensure the safety of everyone in this coronavirus pandemic situation. Let us all be strong, have faith in Yahweh and pray the Oratio Imperata for COVID-19.

Despite that, the celebration of that day will continue as the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, also known as the Parish of Saint John the Baptist and Quiapo Church posted the schedule of Novena Masses in preparation for the Traslación 2021.

Also, on January 9, 2021, the day of the Traslación, 15 holy masses are going to be celebrated. Check out the following schedule.

The Traslación 2021 Theme is, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.” from Matthew 14:22-33. Here is the complete reading.

Matthew 14:22-33

After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.

But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea.

When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear.

But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Cheer up! It is I! Don’t be afraid.”

Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”

He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.

But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.

Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!”

The Traslación 2021 Catechism is from Exodus 20:17.

“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”
