Daily Gospel Reading for May 25, 2024 – Saturday in the Seventh Week of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 25th of May, 2024 is Saturday in the Seventh Week of Ordinary Time. The Bible scriptures for the holy mass readings for this day came from the Year 2024 of Liturgical Calendar.

Reading 1: JAS 5:13-20

The first reading from the Letter from James.

Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praises.

Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it didn’t rain on the earth for three years and six months.

He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

Brothers, if any among you wanders from the truth and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

Responsorial Psalm: PS 141:1-2, 3 and 8

Response: Let my prayer be set before you like incense.

Yahweh, I have called on you. Come to me quickly! Listen to my voice when I call to you.

Let my prayer be set before you like incense; the lifting up of my hands like the evening sacrifice.

R: Let my prayer be set before you like incense.

Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips.

For my eyes are on you, Yahweh, the Lord. I take refuge in you. Don’t leave my soul destitute.

R: Let my prayer be set before you like incense.

Gospel of the Day: MK 10:13-16

From the gospel verse according to Mark.

They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them, but the disciples rebuked those who were bringing them.

But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation and said to them, “Allow the little children to come to me! Don’t forbid them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these.

Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”

He took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.

Other Celebration

An optional celebration on this day is the Memorial of Saint Bede the Venerable, Priest and Doctor of the Church as well as Saint Gregory VII, Pope and Saint Mary Magdalene de’ Pazzi, Virgin.
