Daily Gospel Reading for May 5, 2024 – Sixth Sunday of Easter Bible Verse

The 5th of May, 2024 is the Sixth Sunday of Easter. The Holy Bible verses for the mass readings for this day came from the Liturgical Calendar Year 2024.

Reading 1: ACTS 10:25-26, 34-35, 44-48A

The first reading from the Acts of the Apostles.

When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet, and worshiped him.

But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up! I myself am also a man.”

Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism; but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.”

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.

They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.

For they heard them speaking in other languages and magnifying God. Then Peter answered, “Can anyone forbid these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us.”

He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

Responsorial Psalm: PS 98:1, 2-3A, 3B-4

Response: He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

Sing to Yahweh a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.

R: He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

Yahweh has made known his salvation. He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

He has remembered his loving kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel.

R: He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

Make a joyful noise to Yahweh, all the earth! Burst out and sing for joy, yes, sing praises!

R: He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

Reading 2: 1 JN 4:7-10

The second reading from the Letter of John.

Beloved, let’s love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

He who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, for God is love.

By this God’s love was revealed in us, that God has sent his only born Son into the world that we might live through him.

In this is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

Gospel of the Day: JN 15:9-17

From the gospel scripture according to John.

“Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love.

If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.

I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full.”

“This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you.

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

You are my friends if you do whatever I command you.

No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you.

You didn’t choose me, but I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”

“I command these things to you, that you may love one another.”
