Daily Gospel Reading for January 10, 2023 – Tuesday in the First Week of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 10th of January, 2023 is Tuesday in the First Week of Ordinary Time. The Holy Bible verses for the mass readings for this day came from the Liturgical Calendar of the Year 2023.

Reading 1: HEB 2:5-12

The first reading from The Letter to the Hebrews.

For he didn’t subject the world to come, of which we speak, to angels.

But one has somewhere testified, saying, “What is man, that you think of him? Or the son of man, that you care for him?

You made him a little lower than the angels. You crowned him with glory and honor.

You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that he subjected all things to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we don’t yet see all things subjected to him.

But we see him who has been made a little lower than the angels, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God he should taste of death for everyone.

For it became him, for whom are all things and through whom are all things, in bringing many children to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one, for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brothers, saying, “I will declare your name to my brothers. Among the congregation I will sing your praise.”

Responsorial Psalm: PS 8:1AB and 4, 5-6, 7-8

Response: You make him ruler over the works of your hands.

Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

What is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him?

R: You make him ruler over the works of your hands.

For you have made him a little lower than the angels, and crowned him with glory and honor.

You make him ruler over the works of your hands. You have put all things under his feet.

R: You make him ruler over the works of your hands.

All sheep and cattle, yes, and the animals of the field, the birds of the sky, the fish of the sea, and whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

R: You make him ruler over the works of your hands.

Gospel of the Day: MK 1:21-28

From the gospel scripture according to Mark.

They went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught.

They were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.

Immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, and he cried out, saying, “Ha! What do we have to do with you, Jesus, you Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: the Holy One of God!”

Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!”

The unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him.

They were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching? For with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him!”

The report of him went out immediately everywhere into all the region of Galilee and its surrounding area.
