The 27th of December, 2022, Tuesday is the Feast of Saint John, Apostle and Evangelist. The Holy Bible verses for the mass readings for this day came from the Liturgical Calendar Year 2023.

Reading 1: 1 JN 1:1-4

The first reading from the Letter of John.

That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we saw, and our hands touched, concerning the Word of life (and the life was revealed, and we have seen, and testify, and declare to you the life, the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was revealed to us); that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

And we write these things to you, that our joy may be fulfilled.

Responsorial Psalm: PS 97:1-2, 5-6, 11-12

Response: Be glad in Yahweh, you righteous people! Give thanks to his holy Name.

Yahweh reigns! Let the earth rejoice! Let the multitude of islands be glad!

Clouds and darkness are around him. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

R: Be glad in Yahweh, you righteous people! Give thanks to his holy Name.

The mountains melt like wax at the presence of Yahweh, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

The heavens declare his righteousness. All the peoples have seen his glory.

R: Be glad in Yahweh, you righteous people! Give thanks to his holy Name.

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.

Be glad in Yahweh, you righteous people! Give thanks to his holy Name.

R: Be glad in Yahweh, you righteous people! Give thanks to his holy Name.

Gospel of the Day: JN 20:1A, 2-8

From the gospel scripture according to John.

Now on the first day of the week.

Therefore she ran and came to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have laid him!”

Therefore Peter and the other disciple went out, and they went toward the tomb.

They both ran together. The other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.

Stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he didn’t enter in.

Then Simon Peter came, following him, and entered into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying, and the cloth that had been on his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself.

So then the other disciple who came first to the tomb also entered in, and he saw and believed.
