Daily Gospel Reading for November 13, 2022 – Thirty-Third Sunday of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 13th of November, 2022 is the Thirty-Third Sunday of Ordinary Time. The Bible scriptures for the holy mass readings for this day came from the 2022 Liturgical Calendar.

Reading 1: MAL 4: 1-2A

The first reading from the Book of Malachi.

“For behold, the day comes, burning like a furnace, when all the proud and all who work wickedness will be stubble. The day that comes will burn them up,” says Yahweh of Armies, “so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.

But to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings.”

Responsorial Psalm: PS 98:5-6, 7-8, 9

Response: Let them sing before Yahweh, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

Sing praises to Yahweh with the harp, with the harp and the voice of melody.

With trumpets and sound of the ram’s horn, make a joyful noise before the King, Yahweh.

R: Let them sing before Yahweh, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

Let the sea roar with its fullness; the world, and those who dwell therein.

Let the rivers clap their hands. Let the mountains sing for joy together.

R: Let them sing before Yahweh, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

Let them sing before Yahweh, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

R: Let them sing before Yahweh, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity.

Reading 2: 2 THES 3:7-12

The second reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Thessalonians.

For you know how you ought to imitate us. For we didn’t behave ourselves rebelliously among you, neither did we eat bread from anyone’s hand without paying for it, but in labor and travail worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you.

This was not because we don’t have the right, but to make ourselves an example to you, that you should imitate us.

For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: “If anyone is not willing to work, don’t let him eat.”

For we hear of some who walk among you in rebellion, who don’t work at all, but are busybodies.

Now those who are that way, we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ, that they work with quietness and eat their own bread.

Gospel of the Day: LK 21:5-19

From the gospel verse according to Luke.

As some were talking about the temple and how it was decorated with beautiful stones and gifts, he said, “As for these things which you see, the days will come in which there will not be left here one stone on another that will not be thrown down.”

They asked him, “Teacher, so when will these things be? What is the sign that these things are about to happen?”

He said, “Watch out that you don’t get led astray, for many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is at hand.’ Therefore don’t follow them.

When you hear of wars and disturbances, don’t be terrified, for these things must happen first, but the end won’t come immediately.”

Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

There will be great earthquakes, famines, and plagues in various places. There will be terrors and great signs from heaven.

But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you up to synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name’s sake.

It will turn out as a testimony for you.

Settle it therefore in your hearts not to meditate beforehand how to answer, for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to withstand or to contradict.

You will be handed over even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends. They will cause some of you to be put to death.

You will be hated by all men for my name’s sake.

And not a hair of your head will perish.”

“By your endurance you will win your lives.”
