Daily Gospel Reading for October 27, 2022 – Thursday in the Thirtieth Week of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 27th of October, 2022 is Thursday in the Thirtieth Week of Ordinary Time. The Holy Bible verses for the mass readings for this day came from the Liturgical Calendar of the Year 2022.

Reading 1: EPH 6:10-20

The first reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Ephesians.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace, above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints.

Pray for me, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Responsorial Psalm: PS 144:1A, 2, 9-10

Response: Blessed be Yahweh, my rock.

Blessed be Yahweh, my rock, who trains my hands to war.

R: Blessed be Yahweh, my rock.

My loving kindness, my fortress, my high tower, my deliverer, my shield, and he in whom I take refuge, who subdues my people under me.

R: Blessed be Yahweh, my rock.

I will sing a new song to you, God. On a ten-stringed lyre, I will sing praises to you.

You are he who gives salvation to kings, who rescues David, his servant, from the deadly sword.

R: Blessed be Yahweh, my rock.

Gospel of the Day: LK 13:31-35

From the gospel scripture according to Luke.

On that same day, some Pharisees came, saying to him, “Get out of here and go away, for Herod wants to kill you.”

He said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I complete my mission.

Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, for it can’t be that a prophet would perish outside of Jerusalem.’_”

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, like a hen gathers her own brood under her wings, and you refused!

Behold, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’_”
