The 26th of October, 2022 is Wednesday in the Thirtieth Week of Ordinary Time. The Bible scriptures for the holy mass readings for this day came from the Year 2022 of Liturgical Calendar.
Reading 1: EPH 6:1-9
The first reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Ephesians.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise: “that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.”
You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Servants, be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ, not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with good will doing service as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive the same good again from the Lord, whether he is bound or free.
You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him.
Responsorial Psalm: PS 145:10-11, 12-13AB, 13CD-14
Response: Yahweh is faithful in all his words.
All your works will give thanks to you, Yahweh. Your saints will extol you.
They will speak of the glory of your kingdom, and talk about your power.
R: Yahweh is faithful in all his words.
To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, the glory of the majesty of his kingdom.
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
R: Yahweh is faithful in all his words.
Yahweh is faithful in all his words, and loving in all his deeds.
Yahweh upholds all who fall, and raises up all those who are bowed down.
R: Yahweh is faithful in all his words.
Gospel of the Day: LK 13:22-30
From the gospel verse according to Luke.
He went on his way through cities and villages, teaching, and traveling on to Jerusalem.
One said to him, “Lord, are they few who are saved?” He said to them, “Strive to enter in by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to enter in and will not be able.
When once the master of the house has risen up and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ then he will answer and tell you, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’
Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’
He will say, ‘I tell you, I don’t know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.’
There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in God’s Kingdom, and yourselves being thrown outside.
They will come from the east, west, north, and south, and will sit down in God’s Kingdom.
Behold, there are some who are last who will be first, and there are some who are first who will be last.”
