Daily Gospel Reading for July 28, 2022 – Thursday in the Seventeenth Week of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 28th of July, 2022 is Thursday in the Seventeenth Week of Ordinary Time. The Bible scriptures for the holy mass readings for this day came from the 2022 Liturgical Calendar.

Reading 1: JER 18:1-6

The first reading from the Book of Jeremiah.

The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying, “Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear my words.”

Then I went down to the potter’s house, and behold, he was making something on the wheels.

When the vessel that he made of the clay was marred in the hand of the potter, he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

Then Yahweh’s word came to me, saying, “House of Israel, can’t I do with you as this potter?” says Yahweh. “Behold, as the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, house of Israel.”

Responsorial Psalm: PS 146:1B-2, 3-4, 5-6AB

Response: Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help.

Praise Yahweh, my soul.

While I live, I will praise Yahweh. I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist.

R: Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help.

Don’t put your trust in princes, in a son of man in whom there is no help.

His spirit departs, and he returns to the earth. In that very day, his thoughts perish.

R: Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help.

Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in Yahweh, his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them.

R: Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help.

Gospel of the Day: MT 13:47-53

From the gospel verse according to Matthew.

“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some fish of every kind, which, when it was filled, fishermen drew up on the beach. They sat down and gathered the good into containers, but the bad they threw away.

So it will be in the end of the world. The angels will come and separate the wicked from among the righteous, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Jesus said to them, “Have you understood all these things?” They answered him, “Yes, Lord.”

He said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been made a disciple in the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a householder, who brings out of his treasure new and old things.”

When Jesus had finished these parables, he departed from there.
