Daily Gospel Reading for July 27, 2022 – Wednesday in the Seventeenth Week of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 27th of July, 2022 is Wednesday in the Seventeenth Week of Ordinary Time. The Holy Bible verses for the mass readings for this day came from the Liturgical Calendar of the Year 2022.

Reading 1: JER 15:10, 16-21

The first reading from the Book of Jeremiah.

Woe is me, my mother, that you have borne me, a man of strife, and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have not lent, neither have men lent to me; yet every one of them curses me.

Your words were found, and I ate them. Your words were to me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by your name, Yahweh, God of Armies.

I didn’t sit in the assembly of those who make merry and rejoice. I sat alone because of your hand, for you have filled me with indignation.

Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuses to be healed? Will you indeed be to me as a deceitful brook, like waters that fail?

Therefore Yahweh says, “If you return, then I will bring you again, that you may stand before me; and if you take out the precious from the vile, you will be as my mouth. They will return to you, but you will not return to them.

I will make you to this people a fortified bronze wall. They will fight against you, but they will not prevail against you; for I am with you to save you and to deliver you,” says Yahweh.

“I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you out of the hand of the terrible.”

Responsorial Psalm: PS 59:1-2, 3, 9-10, 16, 17

Response: A refuge in the day of my distress.

Deliver me from my enemies, my God. Set me on high from those who rise up against me.

Deliver me from the workers of iniquity. Save me from the bloodthirsty men.

R: A refuge in the day of my distress.

For, behold, they lie in wait for my soul. The mighty gather themselves together against me, not for my disobedience, nor for my sin, Yahweh.

R: A refuge in the day of my distress.

Oh, my Strength, I watch for you, for God is my high tower.

My God will go before me with his loving kindness. God will let me look at my enemies in triumph.

R: A refuge in the day of my distress.

But I will sing of your strength. Yes, I will sing aloud of your loving kindness in the morning. For you have been my high tower, a refuge in the day of my distress.

R: A refuge in the day of my distress.

To you, my strength, I will sing praises. For God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.

R: A refuge in the day of my distress.

Gospel of the Day: MT 13:44-46

From the gospel scripture according to Matthew.

“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid. In his joy, he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”

“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a merchant seeking fine pearls, who having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.”
