Daily Gospel Reading for June 22, 2022 – Wednesday in the Twelfth Week of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 22nd of June, 2022 is Wednesday in the Twelfth Week of Ordinary Time. The Bible scriptures for the holy mass readings for this day came from the Year 2022 of Liturgical Calendar.

Reading 1: 2 KGS 22:8-13; 23:1-3

The first reading from the Book of Kings.

Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, “I have found the book of the law in Yahweh’s house.” Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan, and he read it.

Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, “Your servants have emptied out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hands of the workmen who have the oversight of Yahweh’s house.”

Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, “Hilkiah the priest has delivered a book to me.” Then Shaphan read it before the king.

When the king had heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes.

The king commanded Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Achbor the son of Micaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying, “Go inquire of Yahweh for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found; for great is Yahweh’s wrath that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that which is written concerning us.”

The king sent, and they gathered to him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

The king went up to Yahweh’s house, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him-with the priests, the prophets, and all the people, both small and great; and he read in their hearing all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in Yahweh’s house.

The king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before Yahweh to walk after Yahweh and to keep his commandments, his testimonies, and his statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to confirm the words of this covenant that were written in this book; and all the people agreed to the covenant.

R: Teach me, Yahweh, the way of your statutes.

Give me understanding, and I will keep your law. Yes, I will obey it with my whole heart.

R: Teach me, Yahweh, the way of your statutes.

Direct me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in them.

R: Teach me, Yahweh, the way of your statutes.

Turn my heart toward your statutes, not toward selfish gain.

R: Teach me, Yahweh, the way of your statutes.

Turn my eyes away from looking at worthless things. Revive me in your ways.

R: Teach me, Yahweh, the way of your statutes.

Behold, I long for your precepts! Revive me in your righteousness.

R: Teach me, Yahweh, the way of your statutes.

Gospel of the Day: MT 7:15-20

From the gospel verse according to Matthew.

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.

By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles?

Even so, every good tree produces good fruit, but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit.

A good tree can’t produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit.

Every tree that doesn’t grow good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”

Other Celebration

An optional celebration on this day is the Memorial of Saint Paulinus of Nola, Bishop as well as Saint John Fisher, Bishop and Martyr, and also Thomas More, Martyr.
