Daily Gospel Reading for May 26, 2022, Thursday – Memorial of Saint Philip Neri, Priest Bible Verse

The 26th of May, 2022, Thursday is the Memorial of Saint Philip Neri, Priest. The Bible scriptures for the holy mass readings for this day came from the Year 2022 of Liturgical Calendar.

Reading 1: ACTS 18:1-8

The first reading from the Acts of the Apostles.

After these things Paul departed from Athens and came to Corinth.

He found a certain Jew named Aquila, a man of Pontus by race, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome. He came to them, and because he practiced the same trade, he lived with them and worked, for by trade they were tent makers.

He reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath and persuaded Jews and Greeks.

When Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was compelled by the Spirit, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.

When they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook out his clothing and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on, I will go to the Gentiles!”

He departed there and went into the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.

Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his house. Many of the Corinthians, when they heard, believed and were baptized.

Responsorial Psalm: PS 98:1, 2-3AB, 3CD-4

Response: He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

Sing to Yahweh a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.

R: He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

Yahweh has made known his salvation. He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

He has remembered his loving kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel.

R: He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

Make a joyful noise to Yahweh, all the earth! Burst out and sing for joy, yes, sing praises!

R: He has openly shown his righteousness in the sight of the nations.

Gospel of the Day: JN 16:16-20

From the gospel verse according to John.

“A little while, and you will not see me. Again a little while, and you will see me.”

Some of his disciples therefore said to one another, “What is this that he says to us, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me;’ and, ‘Because I go to the Father’?”

They said therefore, “What is this that he says, ‘A little while’? We don’t know what he is saying.”

Therefore Jesus perceived that they wanted to ask him, and he said to them, “Do you inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, ‘A little while, and you won’t see me, and again a little while, and you will see me?’

Most certainly I tell you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.”
