Daily Gospel Reading for February 28, 2022 – Monday in the Eighth Week of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 28th of February, 2022 is Monday in the Eighth Week of Ordinary Time. The Holy Bible verses for the mass readings for this day came from the Liturgical Calendar Year 2022.

Reading 1: 1 PT 1:3-9

The first reading from the Letter of Saint Peter.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that doesn’t fade away, reserved in Heaven for you, who by the power of God are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved in various trials, that the proof of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes, even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ-whom, not having known, you love. In him, though now you don’t see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy that is unspeakable and full of glory, receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Responsorial Psalm: PS 111:1-2, 5-6, 9 and 10C

Response: He has given food to those who fear him. He always remembers his covenant.

Praise Yah! I will give thanks to Yahweh with my whole heart, in the council of the upright, and in the congregation.

Yahweh’s works are great, pondered by all those who delight in them.

R: He has given food to those who fear him. He always remembers his covenant.

He has given food to those who fear him. He always remembers his covenant.

He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the heritage of the nations.

R: He has given food to those who fear him. He always remembers his covenant.

He has sent redemption to his people. He has ordained his covenant forever. His name is holy and awesome!

His praise endures forever!

R: He has given food to those who fear him. He always remembers his covenant.

Gospel of the Day: MK 10:17-27

From the gospel scripture according to Mark.

As he was going out into the way, one ran to him, knelt before him, and asked him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”

Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except one-God.

You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not give false testimony,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and mother.’_”

He said to him, “Teacher, I have observed all these things from my youth.”

Jesus looking at him loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack. Go, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, taking up the cross.”

But his face fell at that saying, and he went away sorrowful, for he was one who had great possessions.

Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!”

The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answered again, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!

It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”

They were exceedingly astonished, saying to him, “Then who can be saved?”

Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.”
