Daily Gospel Reading for February 3, 2022 – Thursday in the Fourth Week of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 3rd of February, 2022 is Thursday in the Fourth Week of Ordinary Time. The Bible scriptures for the holy mass readings for this day came from the 2022 Liturgical Calendar.

Reading 1: 1 KGS 2:1-4, 10-12

The first reading from the Book of Kings.

Now the days of David came near that he should die; and he commanded Solomon his son, saying, “I am going the way of all the earth. You be strong therefore, and show yourself a man; and keep the instruction of Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and his testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn yourself.

Then Yahweh may establish his word which he spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your children are careful of their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail you,’ he said, ‘a man on the throne of Israel.’_”

David slept with his fathers, and was buried in David’s city.

The days that David reigned over Israel were forty years; he reigned seven years in Hebron, and he reigned thirty-three years in Jerusalem.

Solomon sat on David his father’s throne; and his kingdom was firmly established.

Gospel of the Day: MK 6:7-13

From the gospel verse according to Mark.

Jesus called to himself the twelve, and began to send them out two by two; and he gave them authority over the unclean spirits.

He commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a staff only: no bread, no wallet, no money in their purse, but to wear sandals, and not put on two tunics.

He said to them, “Wherever you enter into a house, stay there until you depart from there.

Whoever will not receive you nor hear you, as you depart from there, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony against them. Assuredly, I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!”

They went out and preached that people should repent.

They cast out many demons, and anointed many with oil who were sick and healed them.

An optional celebration on this day is the Memorial of Saint Blaise, Bishop and Martyr as well as Saint Ansgar, Bishop.
