Daily Gospel Reading for November 3, 2021 – Wednesday in the Thirty-First Week of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 3rd of November, 2021 is Wednesday in the Thirty-First Week of Ordinary Time. The Holy Bible verses for the mass readings for this day came from the Liturgical Calendar Year 2021.

Reading 1: ROM 13:8-10

The first reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans.

Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.

For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Love doesn’t harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.

Responsorial Psalm: PS 112:1B-2, 4-5, 9

Response: It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends.

Blessed is the man who fears Yahweh, who delights greatly in his commandments.

His offspring will be mighty in the land. The generation of the upright will be blessed.

R: It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends.

Light dawns in the darkness for the upright, gracious, merciful, and righteous.

It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends. He will maintain his cause in judgment.

R: It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends.

He has dispersed, he has given to the poor. His righteousness endures forever. His horn will be exalted with honor.

R: It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends.

Gospel of the Day: LK 14:25-33

From the gospel scripture according to Luke.

Now great multitudes were going with him. He turned and said to them, “If anyone comes to me, and doesn’t disregard his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can’t be my disciple.

Whoever doesn’t bear his own cross and come after me, can’t be my disciple.

For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?

Or perhaps, when he has laid a foundation and isn’t able to finish, everyone who sees begins to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’

Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?

Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy and asks for conditions of peace.

So therefore, whoever of you who doesn’t renounce all that he has, he can’t be my disciple.”

Other Celebration

An optional celebration on this day is the Memorial of Saint Martin de Porres, Religious.
