Daily Gospel Reading for October 29, 2021 – Friday in the Thirtieth Week of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 29th of October, 2021 is Friday in the Thirtieth Week of Ordinary Time. The Bible scriptures for the holy mass readings for this day came from the 2021 Liturgical Calendar.

Reading 1: ROM 9:1-5

The first reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Romans.

I tell the truth in Christ. I am not lying, my conscience testifying with me in the Holy Spirit that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.

For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brothers’ sake, my relatives according to the flesh who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service, and the promises; of whom are the fathers, and from whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God, blessed forever. Amen.

Responsorial Psalm: PS 147:12-13, 14-15, 19-20

Response: Praise Yahweh, Jerusalem!

Praise Yahweh, Jerusalem! Praise your God, Zion!

For he has strengthened the bars of your gates. He has blessed your children within you.

R: Praise Yahweh, Jerusalem!

He makes peace in your borders. He fills you with the finest of the wheat.

He sends out his commandment to the earth. His word runs very swiftly.

R: Praise Yahweh, Jerusalem!

He shows his word to Jacob, his statutes and his ordinances to Israel.

He has not done this for just any nation. They don’t know his ordinances. Praise Yah!

R: Praise Yahweh, Jerusalem!

Gospel of the Day: LK 14:1-6

From the gospel verse according to Luke.

When he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat bread, they were watching him.

Behold, a certain man who had dropsy was in front of him.

Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”

But they were silent. He took him, and healed him, and let him go.

He answered them, “Which of you, if your son or an ox fell into a well, wouldn’t immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?”

They couldn’t answer him regarding these things.
