Daily Gospel Reading for September 6, 2021 – Monday in the Twenty-Third Week of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 6th of September, 2021 is Monday in the Twenty-Third Week of Ordinary Time. The Holy Bible verses for the mass readings for this day came from the Liturgical Calendar of the Year 2021.

Reading 1: COL 1:24-2:3

The first reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Colossians.

Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the assembly, of which I was made a servant according to the stewardship of God which was given me toward you to fulfill the word of God, the mystery which has been hidden for ages and generations. But now it has been revealed to his saints, to whom God was pleased to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

We proclaim him, admonishing every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus; for which I also labor, striving according to his working, which works in me mightily.

For I desire to have you know how greatly I struggle for you and for those at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh; that their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love, and gaining all riches of the full assurance of understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.

Responsorial Psalm: PS 62:5-6, 8

Response: My salvation and my honor is with God. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my expectation is from him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be shaken.

R: My salvation and my honor is with God. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before him. God is a refuge for us.

R: My salvation and my honor is with God. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

Gospel of the Day: LK 6:6-11

From the gospel scripture according to Luke.

It also happened on another Sabbath that he entered into the synagogue and taught. There was a man there, and his right hand was withered.

The scribes and the Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, that they might find an accusation against him.

But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man who had the withered hand, “Rise up and stand in the middle.” He arose and stood.

Then Jesus said to them, “I will ask you something: Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill?”

He looked around at them all, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did, and his hand was restored as sound as the other.

But they were filled with rage, and talked with one another about what they might do to Jesus.
