Daily Gospel Reading for July 27, 2021 – Tuesday in the Seventeenth Week of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 27th of July, 2021 is Tuesday in the Seventeenth Week of Ordinary Time. The Holy Bible verses for the mass readings for this day came from the Liturgical Calendar Year 2021.

Reading 1: EX 33:7-11; 34:4B-9, 28

The first reading from the Book of Exodus.

Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far away from the camp, and he called it “The Tent of Meeting.” Everyone who sought Yahweh went out to the Tent of Meeting, which was outside the camp.

When Moses went out to the Tent, all the people rose up, and stood, everyone at their tent door, and watched Moses, until he had gone into the Tent.

When Moses entered into the Tent, the pillar of cloud descended, stood at the door of the Tent, and Yahweh spoke with Moses.

All the people saw the pillar of cloud stand at the door of the Tent, and all the people rose up and worshiped, everyone at their tent door.

Yahweh spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. He turned again into the camp, but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, didn’t depart from the Tent.

Then Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up to Mount Sinai, as Yahweh had commanded him, and took in his hand two stone tablets.

Yahweh descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed Yahweh’s name.

Yahweh passed by before him, and proclaimed, “Yahweh! Yahweh, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth, keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and disobedience and sin; and who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the children’s children, on the third and on the fourth generation.”

Moses hurried and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped.

He said, “If now I have found favor in your sight, Lord, please let the Lord go among us, even though this is a stiff-necked people; pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for your inheritance.”

He was there with Yahweh forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread, nor drank water. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

Responsorial Psalm: PS 103:6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13

Response: Yahweh is merciful and gracious.

Yahweh executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed.

He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the children of Israel.

R: Yahweh is merciful and gracious.

Yahweh is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness.

He will not always accuse; neither will he stay angry forever.

R: Yahweh is merciful and gracious.

He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor repaid us for our iniquities.

For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his loving kindness toward those who fear him.

R: Yahweh is merciful and gracious.

As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

Like a father has compassion on his children, so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him.

R: Yahweh is merciful and gracious.

Gospel of the Day: MT 13:36-43

From the gospel scripture according to Matthew.

Then Jesus sent the multitudes away, and went into the house. His disciples came to him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the darnel weeds of the field.”

He answered them, “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man, the field is the world, the good seeds are the children of the Kingdom, and the darnel weeds are the children of the evil one.

The enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels.

As therefore the darnel weeds are gathered up and burned with fire; so will it be at the end of this age.

The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather out of his Kingdom all things that causes tumbling and those who do iniquity, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
