Daily Gospel Reading for June 20, 2021 – Twelfth Sunday of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 20th of June, 2021 is the Twelfth Sunday of Ordinary Time. The Bible scriptures for the holy mass readings for this day came from the Year 2021 of Liturgical Calendar.

Reading 1: JB 38:1, 8-11

The first reading from the Book of Job.

Then Yahweh answered Job out of the whirlwind, “Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke out of the womb, when I made clouds its garment, and wrapped it in thick darkness, marked out for it my bound, set bars and doors, and said, ‘You may come here, but no further. Your proud waves shall be stopped here’?”

Responsorial Psalm: PS 107:23-24, 25-26, 28-29, 30-31

Response: For his loving kindness endures forever.

Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business in great waters, these see Yahweh’s deeds, and his wonders in the deep.

R: For his loving kindness endures forever.

For he commands, and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up its waves.

They mount up to the sky; they go down again to the depths. Their soul melts away because of trouble.

R: For his loving kindness endures forever.

Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distress.

He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still.

R: For his loving kindness endures forever.

Then they are glad because it is calm, so he brings them to their desired haven.

Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful deeds for the children of men!

R: For his loving kindness endures forever.

Reading 2: 2 COR 5:14-17

The second reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians.

For the love of Christ compels us; because we judge thus: that one died for all, therefore all died.

He died for all, that those who live should no longer live to themselves, but to him who for their sakes died and rose again.

Therefore we know no one according to the flesh from now on. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know him so no more.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.

Gospel of the Day: MK 4:35-41

From the gospel verse according to Mark.

On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let’s go over to the other side.”

Leaving the multitude, they took him with them, even as he was, in the boat. Other small boats were also with him.

A big wind storm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so much that the boat was already filled.

He himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him up and asked him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are dying?”

He awoke and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” The wind ceased and there was a great calm.

He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?”

They were greatly afraid and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
