The 25th of April, 2021 is the Fourth Sunday of Easter. The Holy Bible verses for the mass readings for this day came from the Liturgical Calendar Year 2021.
Reading 1: ACTS 4:8-12
The first reading from the Acts of the Apostles.
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “You rulers of the people and elders of Israel, if we are examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, may it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, this man stands here before you whole in him.
He is ‘the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner.’
There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”
Responsorial Psalm: PS 118:1 and 8-9, 21-23, 26 and 28-29
Response: The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.
It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in man.
It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in princes.
R: The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
I will give thanks to you, for you have answered me, and have become my salvation.
The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
This is Yahweh’s doing. It is marvelous in our eyes.
R: The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
Blessed is he who comes in Yahweh’s name! We have blessed you out of Yahweh’s house.
You are my God, and I will give thanks to you. You are my God, I will exalt you.
Oh give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.
R: The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
Reading 2: 1 JN 3:1-2
The second reading from the Letter of John.
See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn’t know us, because it didn’t know him.
Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be; but we know that when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him just as he is.
Gospel of the Day: JN 10:11-18
From the gospel verse according to John.
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who doesn’t own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, leaves the sheep, and flees. The wolf snatches the sheep and scatters them.
The hired hand flees because he is a hired hand and doesn’t care for the sheep.
I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and I’m known by my own; even as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep.
I have other sheep which are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will hear my voice. They will become one flock with one shepherd.
Therefore the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.
No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down by myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. I received this commandment from my Father.”
