The 14th of February, 2021 is the Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time. The Bible scriptures for the holy mass readings for this day came from the 2021 Liturgical Calendar.
Reading 1: LV 13:1-2, 44-46
The first reading from the Book of Leviticus.
Yahweh spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, “When a man shall have a swelling in his body’s skin, or a scab, or a bright spot, and it becomes in the skin of his body the plague of leprosy, then he shall be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons, the priests.”
“He is a leprous man. He is unclean. The priest shall surely pronounce him unclean. His plague is on his head.”
“The leper in whom the plague is shall wear torn clothes, and the hair of his head shall hang loose. He shall cover his upper lip, and shall cry, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’
All the days in which the plague is in him he shall be unclean. He is unclean. He shall dwell alone. His dwelling shall be outside of the camp.”
Responsorial Psalm: PS 32:1-2, 5, 11
Response: You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance.
Blessed is he whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
Blessed is the man to whom Yahweh doesn’t impute iniquity, in whose spirit there is no deceit.
R: You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance.
I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn’t hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.
R: You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance.
Be glad in Yahweh, and rejoice, you righteous! Shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart!
R: You are my hiding place. You will preserve me from trouble. You will surround me with songs of deliverance.
Reading 2: 1 COR 10:31-11:1
The second reading from the Letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians.
Whether therefore you eat or drink, or what ever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Give no occasion for stumbling, whether to Jews, to Greeks, or to the assembly of God; even as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of the many, that they may be saved.
Be imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ.
Gospel of the Day: MK 1:40-45
From the gospel verse according to Mark.
A leper came to him, begging him, kneeling down to him, and saying to him, “If you want to, you can make me clean.”
Being moved with compassion, he stretched out his hand, and touched him, and said to him, “I want to. Be made clean.”
When he had said this, immediately the leprosy departed from him and he was made clean.
He strictly warned him and immediately sent him out, and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anybody, but go show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing the things which Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.”
But he went out, and began to proclaim it much, and to spread about the matter, so that Jesus could no more openly enter into a city, but was outside in desert places.
