Daily Gospel Reading for January 11, 2021 – Monday in the First Week of Ordinary Time Bible Verse

The 11th of January, 2021 is Monday in the First Week of Ordinary Time. The Bible scriptures for the holy mass readings for this day came from the Year 2021 of Liturgical Calendar.

Reading 1: HEB 1:1-6

The first reading from The Letter to the Hebrews.

God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the worlds.

His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, who, when he had by himself purified us of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much better than the angels as the more excellent name he has inherited is better than theirs.

For to which of the angels did he say at any time, “You are my Son. Today I have become your father?” and again, “I will be to him a Father, and he will be to me a Son?”

When he again brings in the firstborn into the world he says, “Let all the angels of God worship him.”

Responsorial Psalm: PS 97:1 and 2B, 6 and 7C, 9

Response: Worship him, all you gods!

Yahweh reigns! Let the earth rejoice! Let the multitude of islands be glad!

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

R: Worship him, all you gods!

The heavens declare his righteousness. All the peoples have seen his glory.

Worship him, all you gods!

R: Worship him, all you gods!

For you, Yahweh, are most high above all the earth. You are exalted far above all gods.

R: Worship him, all you gods!

Gospel of the Day: MK 1:14-20

From the gospel verse according to Mark.

Now after John was taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the Good News of God’s Kingdom, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and God’s Kingdom is at hand! Repent, and believe in the Good News.”

Passing along by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.

Jesus said to them, “Come after me, and I will make you into fishers for men.”

Immediately they left their nets, and followed him.

Going on a little further from there, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets.

Immediately he called them, and they left their father, Zebedee, in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.
